Important day for us today! Rode into Clinton, IA and crossed the Mississippi!
I wasn't in a hurry to do 81 miles today, so I hung our near the back with Jake Curtis, Frannie, Marty, Brooke, and Barbara. Lunch tasted really good for some reason today.
After lunch, there was another stop at a Dairy Queen ... this may turn into a tradition.
And then we crossed the Mississippi!!!!!!!
Funny story I forgot to write about yesterday: we saw some people with large bags on their bikes riding in the opposite direction. They yell, where you going? We yell, Seattle! We ask, they yell, New York City! We talked about them afterwards, and it turns out they probably ran into all of us, and they asked us different questions each time, like where you from (Providence), etc. And they're going in the right direction, with the wind. (Why are we biking west? I don't know.) We've biked past quite a few cyclists going in the other direction.
After dinner, we watched some little kids practice Tae Kwon Do. Julie was itching to spar, I know it. I was itching just to grab one of the bokken off the wall to practice my kendo forms ...
I've flown to Salt Lake City before, but this is the first time I've ever physically crossed the Mississippi, so I'm just going to keep repeating this in my blog. It's symbolically important!

congrats! LWC was excited for you too (: It's like your rite of passage or something...now you have finished bike puberty?
hey Sophia, this is random, but such is life...did I tell you that I was bragging about you and your cross-country trek to one of my work friends and he said he wanted your number? haha
