Dubois, WY - BOHLIN CYWINSKI JACKSON???

Last night, I slept in a real bed! Awesome. Elissa (sp?) was a very sweet host, and her daughter Janae is a very articulate 4 year old person.

The ride today had a general uphill trend. We must have climbed about 2000 ft today to reach Dubois. The last few miles were pretty much all uphill. There was a stretch of at least 5 miles that only went uphill.

There was this one long climb early on in the ride that I tried to chase Chad on, but he was feeling incredibly strong today, so I fell back. As we crested the hill though, we both slowed down to walking pace because the view was just so breathtaking. There were just endless chiseled mountain ranges. We also met an older gentleman going east to west to Denver. He said he tried weighing his bike with all the gear on it, and it was 80 pounds total!

After lunch, I started off with Jeff and Katharine. Katharine didn't feel too great after she ran into my back wheel and fell over though, so she went on ahead for about the last 15 miles. Jeff tried to convince me that I should join "Death Race 200", or a trip he's planning after Bike and Build to Portland, OR. I've tried to explain to him that most of my plans are pretty set already, but he said I needed to turn to the good side like Darth Vadar. And since he's the one trying to get me to turn back from the dark side, that makes him Luke Skywalker and me his father? I think not.

Dubois feels pretty touristy so far. There are a lot of restaurants that look medium price to expensive, and not any fastfood places. I kind of feel like swimming in the river. The current looks fast, but it's very shallow and the water looks really clear and cold.

Red told me about a Bohlin Cywinski Jackson building in Jackon, WY, and I'm so excited about seeing beautiful modern vernacular architecture !!!!!!!!!! I just looked it up on-line, and it looks like our route tomorrow should take us straight there. I'm going to bike so fast tomorrow (hopefully). Also, we have a build day in Jackson, so maybe I'll have a lot of time to sketch like crazy for once. I'll have to remember to pack my sketchbook in my hydration pack.
