Like many other Koreans, my dad runs a dry cleaner. I've been helping him out for a while because the work got really backed up after the holidays. I got to catch up on pop Mexican songs, and I wish I could understand them because I get them stuck in my head anyways. After this experience, I've decided upon several different things:
1) I will never use tablecloths, ever. They just get tons of food stains, aren't necessary for good food presentation, and then it takes a lot of resources to press them (energy to create steam, someone standing there pressing them). I told Maggie, the presser next to me, that I would design my buildings to not require tableclothes, and she seemed amused. When I had to repress a bedsheet because of stains, she asked if I would design my buildings without bedsheets either.
2) If tablecloths are a necessity, they are never EVER to be embroidered. The fabric and embroidered areas shrink at different rates, and the fabric does not want to lie flat unless coaxed by the most patient (or skilled) of pressers. I am am not skilled, and it took me forever.
3) If I ever run my own architecture firm, it will be business casual. Shirts take a a lot of resources to wash, starch, and press as well, and it's really not sustainable.
In general, it's a humbling experience, as my college degree is quite useless in a place like this. Education really can't beat experience, sometimes.

But w/o tablecloths, you'll be staining the table instead! Unless all the tables are going to have ceramic or marble tops or something.
My parents have a plastic sheeting thing over their table, which seems like a good idea after reading your post. :)
Then, a lot of cleaners should go out of business because shirt laundry is a very important part of cleaning business!!
I love this post
