WINDY !!!

First time going out to the cornfields in a while ... and man, I have forgotten what it's like to be out in the flatlands with a 24 mph head wind ...

I also forgot my booties. Yes, cyclists wear booties, and we're proud of it. (We also wear spandex. I guess it doesn't get much worse than that; booties are just the icing on the cake.) If you think about it, your feet are going way faster than the rest of your body and generate more wind, but they don't necessarily produce as much heat. They get very cold very fast.

I got my cleats all muddy from trying to shoot my photo assignment out in the cornfields too. I'm glad I finally am. Coming from the city, the rural space is just so different from anything I'm used to. There's something about being able to see the horizon in all directions, and being alone on your bike for miles (with the occasional car zooming past). Hopefully I metered light correctly this time. My high school photo teacher would be so disappointed in me ... I completely overexposed the first 3 rolls that I shot. It's been 4 years though.

Anyways. I crawled out at about 12-14 mph, and coasted at 22mph (and went up to 26mph with just a little effort) on the way back. I hope there are more above-freezing temperature days so I can start training outdoors again. It was really nice to be able to be covering actual miles and not feel boxed inside of an apartment room.
