My trusty Schwinn bike's pedal is flapping off - I'm not entirely sure how it's staying on at the moment, but the bolt that's supposed to keep it in place is loose or non-existent. Tim and I tried to get it off for a good half hour probably before we gave up. I think the pedal's welded itself to the crank arm. Great. Steel + Aluminum = welded pedal.
In good news, he happened to have a bike that is about my size that he never uses (because it's way too small on him) which he's letting me borrow. This bike is teaching me a lot about "bike fit". As an Asian, I tend to have a longer torso and shorter legs compared to my caucasian counterparts, so I generally don't even need a women-specific design frame. To this point, I didn't understand what it felt like to be supermanning it on a bike, but this bike definitely has a longer top tube than mine. Oddly enough, the wheel base isn't actually all that much longer. It's just the geometry that's completely different, somehow. Also, the saddle hates my butt, underlining the importance of having a good one for the trip.
The frigid May weather is making a good case for buying some weather-proof tights, especially since I do tend to get cold easily.
Otherwise, not too much riding this week since I have 3 finals coming up as well as graduation. Afterwards though, I'll hopefully be riding at least 5 days a week in glorious Chicago.
